Beaumont Park

Beaumont Park is a fantastic park based at Beaumont Park Road, Huddersfield. The park offers ornate features, cascades, grottos, steep cliffs and stunning picturesque woodland that is a perfect walk for all the family.

Kirklees Light Railway

The Kirklees Light Railway is a great day out for a young family, the railway offers six steam locomotives in hand-painted and designed carriages that take you three and a half miles from Clayton West Station to Shelly Station. The locomotives offer fantastic views of the south Pennie foothills and pass's multiple attractions.

The journey one way takes 25 minutes, with a return trip completed in 65 minutes. The railway offers play areas at both stations that are perfect for families. The railway is open Saturday and Sunday and prices start from £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for children between the ages of 3-16 with children under three years traveling for free. They also offer Family Plus tickets.

Castle Hill

A historical landmark dating back 4000 years as a defensive fort, then reconstructed as a Victoria Jubilee Tower in 1899. The landmark offers a beautiful view of the Pennines and panoramic scenes of Huddersfield.

The Piece Hall

Shidben Hall

If your searching for history this is the place to come. Currently the focus of a new BBC drama ‘Gentleman Jack’, which focuses on the life of Anne Lister. Surrounded by beautifully restored gardens, the hall is a wonderful day trip for any history goers.

Last of The Summer Wine Exhibition

If you’re a fan of the last of the Summer wine, the exhibition offers tons of nostalgia to the TV series. Visitors can expect original props and photos, along with a timeline of the whole series from the beginning to the end. The beautiful cottage house where the exhibition is placed offers dry stone walls and offer for fans to reminisce the TV series.

Eureka! The National Children’s Museum

A wonderful day out for the family, with more than 400 interactive exhibits for children aged 0-11. The museum has six zones, which teach young children about every aspect of life, whether that be science, the environment, the human body or living in society. The gallery educates children in the most creative way possible how their world works. The gallery offers facilities for birthday parties with multiple themes on offer.

Tolson Museum

Tolson Museum offers a unique collection of pre-historic to present day local mechanical textiles machines, including waving machinery and textiles.
